Four more speakers have been announced for WIRED2015: Next Generation, our one-day event designed to inspire young minds. It will take place in London on 17 October, following on from our two-day flagship event WIRED2015.
Aiming to educate and motivate young people aged 12 to 18 years old with talks, workshops and hands-on product demonstrations, WIRED2015: Next Generation will bring together innovators from the worlds of technology, science, the arts and business.
It will feature an incredibly diverse range of inspirational speakers and will introduce the young delegates to many of the trends that will affect their lives in the coming years.
The newly announced WIRED2015: Next Generation speakers are:
- Lauren Bowker, founder of T H E U N S E E N. Materials alchemist Bowker blends chemistry and couture to create new types of materials with hidden properties.
- Ciara Judge and Emer Hickey, Google Science Fair 2014 winners. Judge and Hickey were part of a trio who won the 15- to 16-year-old age category in the global science research competition for their work on using soil bacteria to accelerate crop production.
- Jordan Casey, serial entrepreneur and self-taught programmer. The 15-year-old has founded three firms -- including a games developers and a coding club.
They join previously announced speakers Arthur Kay, CEO of bio-bean Ltd; antimatter rocket scientist Ryan Weed; social geographer Bradley L Garrett; neuroscience innovator Sophie Scott; 3D scanning explorer and ScanLAB Projects founder Matthew Shaw; roboticist and performer Will Jackson.
WIRED2015: Next Generation will build on the success and popularity of last year's event, which included speakers such as Andy Serkis, CyFi, Fleur de Force, Helen Sharman, Linda Liukas, Roma Agrawal, Rizzle Kicks and Tim Peake.
The event will also set out to raise awareness of the need for stronger science, technology, engineering, arts and maths education in Britain today, and highlight issues that will affect our world in the years to come.
