Gem Uranium

Perfect for your Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, this hand-blown radioactive crystal barware was created by Czech designer Martin Jakobsen. Uranium oxide is added to the glass before melting, so it glows under UV light. The glass exhibits trace levels of radiation - in contrast with some of the original 20th-century Vaseline Glass, which contained up to 25 per cent uranium. £67

Bisque Lissett Aluminium Radiator

Designer radiators can lack the higher heat output of traditional forms. But Bisque, a firm known more for trad Victorian-style reproductions than innovation, has created this one from recycled aluminium, which heats up faster than cast iron. Created in 1983 and added to the permanent collection at MoMA in New York in 1992, these ultra-light headphones are an undisputed design classic.
