WIRED Money: new speakers and agenda announced

Six new speakers have been announced for WIRED Money, Together with BBVA, joining the eleven already confirmed for the fourth one-day event about how technology is impacting the banking and finance sector, on June 23, 2016. The event agenda is also released today.

Anthony Watson, president and CEO of fintech firm Uphold, will speak at the event. Uphold helps people move, hold and spend any form of money or commodity online. It has enabled more than $900 million in transactions since its founding in 2013.

The fourth WIRED Money will also feature Amos Meiri, CEO of Colu. Bitcoin entrepreneur Meiri founded Colu -- a platform that uses blockchain technology to bring trust to all types of transactions, both digital and physical. Another speaker working in fraud prevention is Paulo Marques, CTO and co-founder of Feedzai. Margues’ data science firm uses machine learning to prevent fraud for payment networks, banks and retailers.

Speaking on behalf of event partner BBVA will be Shamir Karkal. A new hire for the Spanish bank, the head of open APIs will explain how he aims to open up the core banking platform and services of BBVA and allow companies to build products and services on top of them.

One of the speakers working in the investment space is Hardeep Walia, CEO and founder of Motif Investment. Motif lets investors build portfolios around broad concepts and themes as diverse as natural resources, biotech or Obamacare.

Representing the Swiss banking and fintech scene will be Christina Kehl, COO of Knip. Kehl will speak about her journey to start one of the first mobile-native insurance brokers, but also brings expertise drawn from launching Swiss Finance Startups – an association of more than 70 fintech innovators.

The WIRED Money agenda has now been announced, covering the following topics:

• The new bank • Reinventing insurance
• Democratising investing • Designing efficiency • The rise of the machines • The potential of the distributed network

Held at The British Museum in central London, this one-day event will see up to twenty speakers take to the Main Stage to discuss a variety of topics in the digital banking and finance sector. The event will also feature the BBVA Ventures Startup Stage – a showcase for new ideas, technologies and companies in early and growth stages. A test lab exhibition will feature products products to test out and speak with their inventors.

Dedicated networking sessions will allow more than 400 delegates to discuss and debate the technologies and ideas presented on the stages.
