Swedish designer Love Hultèn fuses traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. WIRED featured his R-KAID-R portable console in issue 11.16, but we're smitten by this new 70s-inspired synthesiser.

It has a smart clamshell construction that rests on a steel stand. The ball handle that opens the lid doubles as a pitch and modulation controller when detached and inserted next to the MIDI keyboard. The top lid, meanwhile, stores an array of analogue and digital audio modules, including the MeeBlip Anode monophonic synthesiser and PianoBox Mini Midi. And like all the best old-school synths, they connect using a fabulous mix of patch cords. £poa
