Gatwick bosses suspect 'insider' drone pilot

Gatwick Airport COO Chris Woodroofe has told Panorama that police and airport authorities are now seriously investigating the possibility that an "insider" was responsible for the illegal drone flight that shut the airport down for 33 hours last December (BBC News). He told the BBC that drone operator "seemed to be able to see what was happening on the runway" or potentially had access to internal airport communications.

The world's biggest plane has taken to the skies

Stratolaunch, an aeroplane built to launch satellite-bearing rockets into space, has successfully completed its maiden voyage, in the process becoming the largest plane ever to fly (WIRED). Stratolaunch, funded by late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, ascended to 5,181 metres and achieved a speed of 304kph during the 150-minute test flight.

Jack Ma walks back comments supporting 12 hour working days

Alibaba boss Jack Ma has taken to Weibo in an attempt to smooth over his contoversial comments describing 12 hour working days, six days a week as "a huge blessing" for young workers (South China Morning Post).

His original comments followed online protests from Chinese tech workers – at firms including Alibaba – over excessive overtime demands, in violation of China's legally mandated 40-hour working week. He has now clarified that forced long hours are "inhumane, it’s unhealthy and even more unsustainable for long periods".
