It's taken seven months of work for two young American designers, Jordan Guelde and Daniel Shankland II, to create this concept model for a forest-fire-fighting robot. But though it resembles an angry Transformer, the Forest Fire "Clear Cut" Robot is designed for a noble purpose: rapid deforestation of woodland areas where flames are roaring. By cutting trees with its giant buzz-saw and clearing the trunks with its extra arms, it aims to create firebreaks that can prevent fires from spreading.
The model, made from 600 separate parts, took six months to build. And though there are no immediate plans to go into production, its creators are hopeful. Let's hope we still have some actual forests left by then...
