Sony has confirmed an upcoming PlayStation event on 7 September, which could be the long-awaited launch of the PS4 Neo.
The updated PS4 console - which hasn't been officially named but is codenamed 'Neo' - is said to support 4K games and is expected to be unveiled at the event.
It is not clear whether Sony will announce a release date or price and whether it will merely be offering a glimpse of the updated console or a full rundown of the specs.
So far, Sony has remained quiet on exactly what it will be showing at the September event, only confirming in a rather vague statement that it would "share details about the PlayStation business."
The launch will take place at the PlayStation Theatre on Broadway in New York City at 3pm ET, which is 8pm UK time.
The PS4 Neo is expected to feature a boost in processor power, which would enable it to handle the demands of 4K and virtual reality.
Elsewhere, Sony's PlayStation VR headset is due to land in October 2016 with a price tag of £349 and is set to go head to head with the Facebook-owned Oculus headset.
Microsoft recently launched its slimline Xbox One S and is expected to launch its super-powered 'Project Scorpio' Xbox One revamp at the end of 2017.
