If your living room isn’t large enough for an array of massive speakers, Samsung has launched a neat soundbar designed to sit beneath your TV set and make it feel as if you are at the cinema.
The company claims the HW-K950 soundbar is the first to feature Dolby Atmos technology. However, this ‘sonic entertainment experience’ comes at a cost, with the device costing £1,300.
Despite measuring just 2.1-inches tall, the soundbar has 15 built-in speakers, including four upward-firing Dolby Atmos enabled speakers for overhead sound, allowing noise to bounce off the ceiling.
The Atmos speakers have 2.5-inch drivers and each have their own 20-watt amplifier. The first “5.1.4 playback system” also comprises two rear wireless speakers with sturdy wooden cases to provide surround sound. Wide-range tweets spread cinema-like sound around the room.
The sleek device connects wirelessly to the subwoofer and rear speaker units so there are no wires trailed around a room. It can also connect wirelessly to Samsung Multiroom speakers.
The device has an LCD display, an HDMI output and two HDMI inputs. It was originally unveiled at CES earlier this year.
