Yep, you read that right. You can pretend to be a rock in
Rock Simulator 2014, a forthcoming title which gamers have voted the ninth most exciting on Steam's 'Greenlight' platform.
Following in the footsteps of titles like Truck Simulator, Surgeon Simulator, Bear Simulator and even Goat Simulator, Rock Simulator is an immersive, highly-detailed look at what it's like to be a rock. "This simulator is a rock enthusiasts dream. You can watch beautiful rocks in any location in the world," developer Ryan at Strange Panther Games promises on its Steam Greenlight page. "From grass plains to salt flats, there are dozens of hand designed BEAUTIFUL environments."
It's a PC exclusive and single-player-only experience, and so far includes a number of different types of terrain for your rock.
Strange Panther has posted a request for the assistance of a 3D modeller, as well as the promise of a number of minigames.
No release date or price has yet been announced, but you can bet that we'll have a full review of Rock Simulator 2014 as soon as it's available to buy.
Update [27 June 12:50]: The developers of Rock Simulator 2014 have launched an indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for the game to raise $5,000, citing that the finished product will be free-to-play and they are attempting to recuperate costs.
Backing tier bonuses include being sent between one and three rocks depending on contribution.
