Nintendo’s much-anticipated new console, the Nintendo Switch, has finally been given a release date and price. It will be out on March 3 and will cost £279.99 in the UK.

The new console is a tablet-like device that can be played as a portable gaming device or as a TV console. It is said to have a six-hour+ battery life, depending on the game you’re playing, and the launch will come with a slew of exclusive games for the Switch.
While a “limited quality” of Nintendo Switch will be available to pre-order at the company’s New York store today, here’s how to pre-order the console in the UK, so you can play Super Mario Odyssey and Super Bomberman R (yes it’s back) the minute it is released.
The online retailer has the new console available to pre-order, which includes their price guarantee, so if the item decreases between the time you place your order and the release date, you will be charged the lowest price. They have already sold out for the March 3 release date for today, but check back to see if Amazon receive more in the future.

The Switch will be available from Argos in the future, however the website is still only allowing you to register interest at this moment in time. Considering Amazon’s allocation has already sold out, it might be worth registering interest at Argos to take advantage of the store’s stock when it comes in.
Game has the new device in both colours: grey and neon red/neon blue as well as a range of accessories including starter kits, screen protectors and Joy-Cons. If you want to really get into the spirit of things, Game is doing a bundle including the new console, a Switch Pro controller and a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for £404.97.
Supermarket giant Tesco has the new console available to pre-order on its website. It’s offering free delivery if you order the Switch, and promises to deliver the gadget on the day of its launch. Available in grey.
