Overwatch goes to straight to the top of the UK games chart

The first-person shooter is Blizzard's fastest selling console game ever

Online shooter Overwatch has raced straight to the top of the UK games chart, knocking Uncharted 4: A Thief's End off the top spot.

Launched this week on PS4, Xbox One and PC, the first-person shooter has become developer Blizzard's fastest selling title to date in the UK.

A massive 47 per cent of launch week sales came from the PS4 version of the game, while Xbox One accounted for 36 per cent of sales and PC gamers made up just 18 per cent of the total.

It is likely that many PC gamers will have bought the game as a download, which wouldn't be counted in the charts.

Blizzard Entertainment is not widely known for its console games and is typically considered to be a PC developer.

However, the U.S.-based developer - famous for World of Warcraft - has previously brought some of its franchise to consoles with releases such as Diablo 3.

As well as snatching the number one spot from Uncharted, Overwatch has pushed Doom down to number 3 and dropped Homefront: The Revolution from third place down to fourth in the second week since its release.
