Daniel Simon created the stunning light-cycle in Tron: Legacy. But it's not the first futuristic vehicle conceived by the former
VW concept-car designer. Get a glimpse of travel on a distant world in these incredible, interplanetary earlier works.
In a galaxy not too far away, vehicles intended for road, sky and space are assembled from glass, rivets, turbines and tyres -- they could almost be real. Almost.
Before his work on Tron: Legacy, Simon worked in the automotive industry, interning at Lamborghini and creating dream cars for VW -- but the real flights of fancy (each complete with an elaborate back story, including fictional currencies, planets and fuels) are in his book Cosmic Motors: Spaceships, Cars and Pilots of Another Galaxy (Titan Books). Check out some of his designs in Wired's gallery.
