Latest Star Wars trailer gives in to the dark side

Another day on the internet, another Star Wars trailer.

In the latest in a series of promotional clips that will end temporarily with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on 17 December in the UK, before starting again on an annual basis until the end of time, Disney has released a new minute-long preview of the seventh Star Wars movie.

This time the clip focuses on the dark side of the Force, giving fans a new look at hooded evil-doer Kylo Ren, more words from Andy Serkis' Supreme Leader Snoke, and a little bit of new footage featuring TIE Fighters and X-Wings dulling above various exotic, albeit familiar landscapes.

The preview was released on Facebook to mark Thanksgiving in the United States, though quickly spread to the other official Star Wars social media platforms. It follows several new clips released in the last week which largely reuse the same footage from previous trailers while adding in a few tempting tidbits for keen-eyed fans. This time around a new look at Han Solo appearing distressed on said ice world, and Daisy Ridley's Rey firing lasers, are the big 'attractions'.

Several more of these smaller previews are expected ahead of The Force Awakens' release in December, but genuine fans might learn more from those already published by WIRED at our Star Wars hub, including an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Stormtrooper dressing room, and a close examination of props from the film.
