HOW WE TESTED
We enlisted the help of James Suckling of band Monkey Militia -- a musician with 15 years of performance and recording experience -- and Nate Lanxon, editor of Wired.co.uk and a veteran of the Wired weekly podcast. We recorded spoken word, singing, and acoustic and bass guitars, and analysed the results using Audacity audio software. This gave us data on frequency response, noise levels and resistance to plosive "pops" to complement our close listening.
