WIRED chose three high-profile designs and one entry-level "control" fridge-freezer, and filled them with identical groceries. Each fridge was set to its default temperature and opened daily for ten days. WIRED asked Oonagh Laifeartaigh, produce co-ordinator for Whole Foods, to rank the groceries on freshness. Laifeartaigh's ratings are based on the quality of the food and have no bearing on fridge features and design.
