Retro sound-system: Ruark Audio R7

A marriage of modern hi-fi performance and iconic 50s British radiogram styling, the R7 is as much a piece of furniture as a sound system. Using high-quality Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, the R7 links with any compatible music source, from smartphones to PCs. There are also USB, analogue auxiliary, optical and coaxial digital inputs. Radio is covered with DAB+/DAB/FM and internet capability.

CDs (remember those?) get a built-in player; audio comes via two 30W 13cm mid/bass drivers with integrated tweeters and a 100W active subwoofer with a 20cm driver.

Cost: £2,000
