Balanced sounds: Pleyel / Peugeot Design Lab piano Pleyel has been making pianos for 200 years, but this Peugeot Design Lab model is a radical reworking. Its weight is supported by a single cantilevered leg made from carbon fibre and filled with foam to dampen acoustic vibration. The open design enables spectators to see the player's fingers at work on the keys, and its self-supporting lid mechanism offers a clue to its automotive influence.
