PlayStation 4 exclusive racing game Driveclub has been taken "back to the drawing board" in the hope of improving the the experience.
Initially set as a PS4 launch title, Driveclub was pushed back to an early 2014 release with Sony president Shuhei Yoshida stating "the team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision".
Three months into 2014 and Scott Rohde, head of software product development at Sony, has told IGN "we'd be doing everyone a disservice if we shipped it before it was ready".
Obviously, delaying the launch of a game can be a costly decision but apparently PlayStation is willing to devote the extra time and resources to the Evolution Studios game. As Rohde puts it: "I think that at PlayStation, perhaps more than at other places, we're willing to kinda eat that [cost] and go back to the drawing board and make sure the game is great before we ship it. And that's what's going on right now with that game."
As for a revised release date, the company isn't offering any further information. The Amazon.com listing for the game is currently set up for a 30 September launch, however that may well just be a placeholder date.
