Heathrow airport is one of the hubs affected by the computer problems, with a power outage in Atlanta apparently to blame. The

"Delta flights from Heathrow are experiencing delays due to the worldwide technical issue with their computer systems," a Heathrow spokesperson told WIRED. "Check-in is currently operating using a backup system and airport staff are on hand to assist any passengers that are impacted by the delays. Passengers should check with the airline for updates on their flights."

Delta said problems began at around 02:30 ET and that "large-scale" cancellations are expected today, leaving many passengers stranded. The airline has published a waiver for anyone travelling between August 8 and 12.

If your flight was delayed significantly or cancelled, you can get a refund, and if you have a flight booked that's not affected, you can still make a one-off change to the booking without being charged a fee.
