WIRED product editor Jeremy White -- winter sports enthusiast and gadget buff -- decamped to Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental in Westendorf, Austria, to assess the latest essentials for taming the peaks. Above he is pictured wearing a helmet that can answer calls and switch songs using RC communicator, a video camera with Tessar lens boasting a 170° field of view, and goggles with a Bluetooth HUD that can display live data and text messages. His skis are full wood-core skis featuring a titanium backbone, and the boots an all-day moon boot which can be adapted for the mountain.
