The (actually good) tech deals in Amazon’s Summer Sale

These are the fitness trackers, cordless vacs and 4K TV deals worth considering from Amazon, Currys and John Lewis

Having tested the waters with some Echo discounts and cut-price clothing, Amazon is joining Currys, John Lewis and Argos with some decent, not spectacular, July tech sales. After a scout around of the ‘summer deals’ that have gone live so far, Amazon has the best prices of the bunch on most tech products, with discounts on fitness trackers, 4K TVs, gaming headsets and tablets, but we’ve included a few good deals from elsewhere, too.

The Prime Day sale is likely delayed until September, so this is probably your lot for Amazon tech bargains until then. End dates vary from midnight on 6 July to the 10/12/20 July, so look out for the countdown timer for one day deals.

It's Prime Day 2023, so we've uncovered the top discounts. Check out the best Prime Day deals in the UK here.

Huawei's Watch GT 2 is down to £130

What is it? The Watch GT 2 is a neat budget smartwatch with a big battery life. It's a sharp 1.2-inch AMOLED screen and instead of Wear OS, it runs the low power Lite OS with plenty of sports features and a built-in music player.

What's the real saving? As low as £10 off recent Amazon prices for the 42mm model but hey, that's on an already terrific value price. The Watch GT 2e is also down to £105.

Apple AirPods (second gen) are down to £129

What is it? If you go for AirPods we strongly recommend the AirPods Pro (£219) but now that the second gen AirPods are £30 off (again) and thus around half the price, you might be more tempted by the more affordable wireless earbuds.

What’s the real saving? That "(again)" refers to the fact that this is the exact price the AirPods went down to last Black Friday. So even though it’s six months later, that looks to be the price floor Apple is sticking to for now. The AirPods with wireless charging case are also back down to £159 this week.

£20 off Garmin Vivosmart 4, down to £80

What is it? Amazon has a range of Garmin gadgets on sale this week – our pick is the Vivosmart 4, a neat alternative to Fitbit that made it into our WIRED Recommends best fitness trackers guide thanks to its slim design, rich sleep tracking and useful Body Battery recovery metrics.

What’s the real saving? The Vivosmart 4 is down from £100 to £80 and Amazon has the best price right now.

More summer deals from Amazon, Currys & John Lewis

£70+ off Oppo Reno 2, now £270: We're fans of Oppo's Reno 2 Android phones – sure, we'd usually go for the Reno 2 Z of the two but the 6.5-inch, quad-camera Reno 2 down to £269, it's mighty tempting.

£120 off the Xiaomi Mi 10, down to £579: More phones and Xiaomi's Mi 10 is about £120 off this week. You get flagship (OK, 2019 flagship) specs such as a 90Hz display, 30W wireless charging and lots and lots of cameras.

35 per cent off Wahl beard trimmers and electric shavers: We rate Wahl's men's grooming tools so take your pick of the budget Wahl 14-in-1 beard trimmer; or else the premium 4-in-1 trimmer with beard oil (down £32 to £68) or the Wahl electric shaver (£49).

£5 off Kasa Mini smart plug, now £15: Buy a bunch, save a bunch, kick off your smart home whether you're interested in Alexa, Google Home or Samsung SmartThings.

£44 off Fitbit's Versa 2 smartwatch, down to £144: A bunch of Fitbit devices have been on sale this week and now it's the turn of this Versa 2 model with a 'Bordeaux' (purple) strap which Amazon says is an exclusive.

For the Summer Sale, Amazon also has a why-not deal on its Amazon Music service: you get three months free of the usually £9.99 per month platform. You get ad-free listening, offline playback and Alexa voice controls; estimates say its pay-per-stream to artists averages out closer to Spotify than some of the very worst offenders.

£15 off Steelseries Arctic Pro with GameDAC, down to £185: We’ve seen this go down to £175 in the past but £15 off is still worth considering for locked down gamers. It’s a very capable wired headset with strong audio performance, hence the nod in our best gaming headsets guide.

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S6 Lite with LTE is £359: You can get the regular Tab S6 Lite for £309 but the cellular version of the 10.4-inch Android tablet is £40 off, down to £359 at Amazon and Currys. You get the S Pen, a solid processor, good stereo speakers and long battery life.

£55 off a 43-inch Panasonic LED TV: This Full HD Pana from 2018 would make a great bedroom or second TV. Down from £330 to £275 with Freeview HD built in.

A Dyson V10 Absolute cordless vac for £399: That’s £50 off last year’s top-end cordless Dyson with the same deal currently running at both Currys and John Lewis.

£65 off a Philips Hue Starter Kit: An Amazon sale staple, you can get three smart light bulbs and a bridge for £85. Think that’s still a bit steep? They’re the best smart bulbs around, plus they work with everything and last for ages.
