The (actually good) tech deals in Amazon's End of Summer Sale

The budget phones, running watches and 2-in-1 hybrids to pick up this week

Say it isn't so. Amazon has declared the end of summer with its End of Summer sale. It's putting on one last round of discounts before its major Prime Day sales event, now expected in either September or October this year. No Prime membership is required this week, though. Officially the sale lasts until September 1 but the deals below actually have a variety of expiry dates – from midnight on August 24 to September 9.

What is it? If you don't care about extras like touch controls and voice assistance, these are one of the best pairs of headphones you can buy. Full stop. With luxurious build quality, very impressive active noise cancelling and superbly judged sound quality.

What's the real saving? This is a great little deal - 15% off when the PX7s are still selling for full price on John Lewis.

What is it? A good value digital Timex with ten lap memory recall, for runners and swimmers, a 41mm body that's waterproof to 100m, alarm and stopwatch.

What's the real saving? We're talking max £12 here but this is already a good price. Elsewhere, you can get a small but sweet £14 discount on a Timex Tide-Temp Compass (down to £84, from an initial £140 price).

What is it? A pair of excellent all-round wireless earbuds. No waterproofing but they're comfy and light with good sound and stable Bluetooth connection. Plus you get 15 hours of battery with the case.

What's the real saving? The real saving is not exactly the £60 listed by Amazon, it's more like £29 off recent prices. Still, a Good Deal in our book.

What is it? A great budget all-rounder with a bright, sharp 6.4-inch Full HD LCD screen, a big 5,000 mAh battery and a real 2x zoom camera. Plus clean and clear Android and loud stereo speakers. In other words, consistent quality throughout.

What's the real saving? This is ten per cent (£21) cheaper than either Amazon or any other retailers are selling the G8 Power right now. And it's already an outrageous bargain.

What is it? Our top budget running watch, the Garmin Forerunner 45 offers rich running tracking, clever coaching, a heart rate monitor and smartwatch features. A great option for beginners.

What's the real saving? Around £30. The RRP of the Forerunner 45 is £170 but it's been selling for as low as £147-£149 recently and has occasionally dipped down to £130.

What is it? One of our best 2-in-1 laptops, the Surface Go 2 is an entry-level hybrid for casual use. With this 2020 model, you get a Core M3 processor and a 128GB SSD. It runs Windows S but you can convert to Windows 10 Home if you prefer.

What's the real saving? Officially it's a £93 saving and while you can get a Go 2 for around the same money elsewhere, this is the best price we've seen for this spec. Don't forget you'll need to buy a Type Cover (£99) to get the full 'laptop' experience.

£121 off a Philips 4K LCD TV, now £429: Most of the TVs in Amazon's sale - from Sony, TCL and Philips - haven't been widely reviewed but this Philips 4K LCD 50-inch TV with HDR 10+ and Dolby Atmos is worth a look. It's down from £550 to £429.

£14 off a UE Megaboom speaker, now £79: An old version of our current favourite Bluetooth speaker – the Megaboom 3 – is discounted this week.

£90 off Bosch cordless lawnmower, now £350: Bosch has a whole heap of cordless chainsaws, multi-sanders and other serious garden tools on sale this week including this Rotak 430 lawnmower, down from a recent price of £440.

A Korimefa kids trike, down to £45: Get £9 off this nifty 3-in-1 trike that works as both a tricycle and a two-wheel bike for children with detachable pedals.

£23 off Fitbit Charge 3, now £96: You can pick up a Charge 3 for as low as £75 these days but this is the NFC Special Edition in a rose gold finish with a lavender strap.

Get a Yi Smart Security Camera for £25: It wouldn't be our first recommendation but if budget needs really must, you can pick up a Wi-Fi connected Yi cam with 1080p footage and adjustable infrared for night-time.
