Animal-shaped chairs and folding scooters on show at 100% Design

For 17 years, 100% Design has been attracting designers from around the world to show their creations, whether highly conceptual lighting installations, beautifully crafted furniture or unusual materials that could shape design in the future.

This year's event, again held at Earls Court, drew in designers from China, Chile, Greece, Argentina, Korea and Taiwan among other countries giving a global perspective on the design industry.

While there were some household name, including Anglepoise, amid the exhibitors, the show has a section dedicated solely to emerging designers. The 100% Futures section is showing the work of 50 upcoming talents -- one of whom has been awarded a mentoring package.

The most future facing section is 100% Materials, curated by designer Chris Lefteri, who spoke to Wired.co.uk from the show for this week's Podcast. Promising the A-Z of Smart Materials, the exhibit boasted electro-conductive body paint; self-cleaning wallpaper; robotic cladding and catalytic clothing.
