In the past 12 months, the Culture section has published hundreds of stories about all manner of things: movies, comics, television, memes, politics, art, books, music, gender and sexuality, food, equestrian events, and the list goes on. But there comes a point at which you have to ask yourself: what were the biggest stories of the year? Like, really. What consumed our national attention? What promised real change? What delivered real change? Most importantly, what did all of those things and wasn't Pokemon Go? So we asked ourselves those questions and we came up with five stories. (Well, four---Pokemon Go was a no-brainer.) Here's to a fresh start, a positive attitude, and a resolution to finally get to all those prestige shows you've been dragging your feet on.
