The first episode of Black Mirror touched on some familiar tropes—a missing princess, a hero faced with a terrible choice, and an unlikely animal that helps him save the day. But this show is no fairytale.
Black Mirror—from the sick mind of columnist-turned-TV presenter Charlie Brooker—became a global phenomenon when it showed up on Netflix in December 2014. No expense was spared in making the third season of the near-future dystopian tech anthology, which will run exclusively on the streaming service.
In the first trailer, released this morning, we see some of the impressive talent brought on for the new season: Bryce Dallas Howard, Wyatt Russell, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Bronn from Game of Thrones, Doug Stamper from House of Cards. Along with the on-screen talent, Netflix paid for some big-time directors—most excitingly Dan Trachtenberg, the man behind this year’s amazing 10 Cloverfield Lane.
Brooker's next six episodes of Black Mirror hit Netflix on Oct. 21, just in time for Halloween.
