For some, the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, California---the fanciest auto show in the country---is a chance to spy upon classic cars of which they could only dream. Others show up with check books, because the auctions are a vital part of the events that make up the week leading up to the main event.
The classic car insurer Hagerty expects buyers to drop $370 million over the next few days, with more cars in the $10 million-plus range---11!---than in the year previous. We went through RM Sotheby's and Gooding & Company's auction books to find a few of the prettiest vehicles up for sale this coming weekend, if you happen to dig some extra change out of the couch or find someone willing to make a good deal for your soul.
