Those of us on the WIRED Culture team only have one thing on our minds this week: The Night Of. Sure, other big things are happening in the world of entertainment, but every time our thoughts wander, they always come back to HBO’s gritty crime drama. Man that show was good.
The Night Of also has us thinking some very deep thoughts about what it is that makes a perfect series finale. Is it better when everything is tied up all nice and neat? Or are shows more enjoyable when they end on a note of mystery? Can a good finale save a lackluster season? Can a bad finale ruin an otherwise great series? These are important questions.
