"For many people, including me, space was one of the first scientific things that captured their imagination. I was hooked when I saw Apollo. I worked at JPL for almost 22 years, including working on the Curiosity rover. Space is critical to everything we do. Weather satellites, GPS, communications. And the exposure helps elevate STEM education. If this continues—they saw a rover landing, or a SpaceX landing—that brings them into the STEM fold. It is part of why NASA is a great investment for the country."
