Game of Thrones Death Pool: What Is Dead May (Seriously) Never Die
Well, this is awkward. After making a whole lot of noise last week about how we were going to have a death pool to determine who was going to be the next poor soul killed off on Game of Thrones, this week we learned there's a little bit of a problem with that entire premise: resurrection. Yes, friends, it's now possible you can win the death pool and, well, have your wisely-chosen dead guy come back to life. Sigh. (We have no idea how bookies are going to handle this, TBH.) That said, what happened on last night's episode—read no further if you don't want to be spoiled—could very well be a one-time deal, so we're going to stay the course and provide you, once again, with our death pool recap of Game of Thrones. Here are the odds, but remember, what is dead ... may come back to die again.
Bran Stark
This week's episode began with a lovely lad we didn't see at all last season: Bran Stark. He'a all grown up now (seriously, maybe it's the fact that he can stand when he's warging back through time, but he's got to be like six inches taller these days, right?) and with the help of the Three-Eyed Raven is trying to piece together what happened to his family by looking at life in Winterfell before he was born. Despite the fact that the Raven told him a war is coming, though, he's not in any immediate danger up in his cave so he's safe for now. Bran is also a Stark, and, well, Starks seem to be on a streak these days.

Oh how the fleetingly mighty have fallen. After his brief stint leading the Night's Watch to overthrow (read: kill) Jon Snow, Alliser Thorne now has his back against the wall, so to speak. Just as he and his men were about to lay siege to Davos, the Red Woman, and the small gang protecting Jon Snow's body, whoops! Wildlings! In two minutes flat Dolorous Edd led the wild ones to Castle Black where Wun Wun the Giant smashed the first member of the Night's Watch to dare sling and arrow at him and the rest of the gang pretty much surrendered. Alliser and those he lead in revolt against Jon Snow were thrown behind bars, so his chances of immediate death aren't great, but his longevity is now seriously in question.

Dolorous Edd, congratulations! You picked the right side! After calling out Thorne for being the real traitor you've got an excellent shot at living for a while. Good on you, sir.

With the return of Bran, we also got the return of his cohort Meera. Currently she's just as protected as he is north of the Wall, but, as she notes, "it's not safe anywhere." She's a little hungrier for action than the rest, and should the war the Three-Eyed Raven mentioned come to their doorstep (or if they go searching for it), it will be Meera who will likely be the first to put herself in harm's way.

Missandei
Aside from advising Tyrion that Daenerys' dragons never hurt her (see? they are good friends!), Missandei didn't really make her situation any better or worse last night. Her fate remains unchanged.

In addition to the return of Bran, last night also saw the return of Theon Greyjoy's sister Yara. Yara's a pistol who is still out to find and save her brother while also making sure the to keep the Iron Islands out of wars they can't win, but now she's got bigger problems. Her father, King Balon Greyjoy, just died at the hands of his brother, Euron. (Man, he wasn't even in our pool since he seemed kind of out of the game already, whoops!) In theory, she would be heir, but as one priest of the Drowned God mansplains to her, "Perhaps you’ll be the first woman in history to rule the Ironborn—and perhaps not." (Thanks, dude.) Yara's tough, but now she can either take this slight lying down, fight for her throne (which could get her killed), and/or get the throne and become a target (which could get her killed).

Hodor
“I saw you as a boy, you could talk. What happened?”—Bran, after seeing a younger Hodor (his name was Willis!) speak while warging. We would all like an answer to this question, but all we're going to get is "Hodor." His odds remain unchanged.

Tyrion Lannister
Hey, you know what Tyrion can do besides drink? Be a friggin' dragon whisperer. With Dany gone (she made no appearance on this episode, her odds are the same as they were last week), the two dragons she had chained up in the basement aren't eating. (They aren't just going to get excited over a Baby Ruth like Sloth in Goonies, you know?) So Tyrion decides maybe they just want someone to be friends with them and let them out of their chains and stuff. This surprisingly doesn't backfire. Yes, the dragons who nearly made a Dany Kabob when she tried to go play nice, were super chill with Tyrion. His odds are a little worse than they were, but c'mon, this man will never die.

Guys, Arya (aka "a girl") and Jaqen H’ghar are faceless friends again! After being blinded and begging in the streets for a while, Arya must have suffered long enough because Jaqen came to the streets and offered her a chance to come back to (presumably) the House of Black and White. See? What did we say? Everything is coming up Stark! Her numbers fell on account of her destitute status last week, but they should pick up soon.

Sansa Stark
Yeah, so about that "everything coming up Stark!" bit, that's true, but in Sansa's case, it's complicated. She's finally escaped Ramsay Bolton (woohoo!), but all things considered, the only thing worse than being under Ramsay's thumb is being on Ramsay's most-wanted list. So now that she and Brienne of Tarth (and Podrick) are on the lam, she's got a long way to go before she's truly in the clear. (But man, watching her hear that Brienne had recently seen her sister Arya alive was magical, wasn't it?)

Speaking of being hunted by Ramsay, Theon "Reek" Greyjoy might be the one person worse off than Sansa if the new Lord Bolton (more on that in a minute) finds them is Theon. Perhaps sensing this, Theon states his intentions to part ways with Sansa and co. He might be able to hide more easily if he's alone, but he'll have no one watching his six. Godspeed, Greyjoy.

Jesus, this dude can't get any worse. After finding out he'd gotten a new baby half-brother he killed his father, Roose Bolton, his new brother, and that baby's mother. All in like 30 minutes. Then he sent out ravens saying that Roose was poisoned by their enemies. As Tyrion told us long ago, there's little justice in Westeros, but if there is, this dude is going to get served.

High Sparrow
For a humble man of the cloth, the High Sparrow sure is getting cocky isn't he? After Jaime confronted the man leading the Faith Militant about what they did to Cersei, then almost killed him on the spot, the High Sparrow just up and said how amazing it was that he and his cohort were able to so easily "overthrow and empire." We'll see about that.

Finally, the thing we've all been waiting for, the resurrection of Jon Snow! OK, only like half of the fanbase was waiting for this. The rest didn't think it would happen. Anyway, after getting a Coach Taylor-worthy pep talk from Davos, Melisandre worked some crazy magic and brought Jon Snow back to life. (Melisandre, if you're wondering, has the same 3/1 odds she had last week.) Believe it or not, we kind of prepared for this. Going into the new season we asked bookmakers what the odds would be that Jon Snow would come back to life and they said 16/1, so a 5.88% chance. (We *really *should've placed that bet.) Considering the near-miracle of his resurrection (even if it was kind of already expected), we're going to give good ol' Jon the same odds for survival that he had for coming back from the dead. He's got a shot. At least, for now.
