*On the *Song Exploder podcast, host Hrishikesh Hirway talks to musicians who take apart their songs and, piece by piece, tell the stories of how they were made. Listen below.

The Arcs is a new band featuring Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, along with fellow musicians Richard Swift, Leon Michels, Homer Steinweiss, and Nick Movshon. In this episode, Auerback, Swift, and Michels break down the song "Put a Flower in Your Pocket" from their debut album Yours, Dreamily. They talk about how the song grew out of a single guitar line played by their friend and country session musician Russ Pahl, and how they combined vintage gear with modern recording techniques to craft their sound.
