Silicon Valley firms are starting to offer more time off to new dads. Our message to those dads: Take it! “The joy a father gets from being engaged with his kids has a positive effect on his job,” says Brad Harrington, executive director of Boston College Center for Work & Family. Plus, for the moms who work alongside you, it normalizes this people-being-gone-from-work-for-kid-reasons thing. So go, get outta here, stay home. Do it for yourselves, do it for your families—and do it so other companies fall in line.
