Obama Assumes Control of the White House's Instagram

Wonder if he's more of a Mayfair or Valencia guy.

"Hey everyone, it's Barack" is a salutation that doesn't often pop up in my Instagram feed.

That is, except for last night, when President Obama took over the White House's official Instagram account. Over the next few days, the President will be posting photos of his trip to Alaska—photos we're told he's taking himself—where he'll be meeting with world leaders to discuss the pressing problem of climate change.

The first shot shows POTUS's view from Air Force One, as he looks out onto Anchorage and the recently renamed Denali mountain. In advance of his trip, the White House announced that the mountain's name would be reverted back from Mt. McKinley to Denali, its original Native American name, a move that garnered mixed reactions in Congress. Judging by the comments on his first photo, though, it seems Alaskans support the move.

While he's in Alaska, the President will also take some survival lessons with adventure man Bear Grylls for an upcoming TV series. If POTUS plans to Instagram that, we hope someone thought to bring him a GoPro.
