Now this is something! An action movie presented entirely from a first-person perspective brought to you by two crazy Russians (producer Timur Bekmembatov and writer/director Ilya Naishuller) and starring an equally crazy Sharlto Copley. The official synopsis reads like the description for a first-person shooter:

"You remember nothing. Mainly because you've just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry and congratulations, you're now a cyborg. 5 minutes later, your wife has been kidnapped and you should probably go get her back. Who’s got her? His name’s Akan (Danila Kozlovsky), he’s just a psychotic megalomaniac with telekinetic powers, and a never-ending army of mercenaries. You’re also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, Russia and everyone wants you dead. Everyone, except for a mysterious British fellow called Jimmy (Copley). He might be on your side. Good luck Henry. You’re very much likely to need it..."

Like, what!? Put Crank and The Raid in a blender with lots of bombs and you’ll get something like this. Hardcore is making its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and hopefully it can live up to all the conceptual and visual ambition laid out in this trailer, cause ... damn.

Pause at: 0:31. Not an organic foot. That telekinesis at 0:47. Power up at 1:12. Oh, Sharlto at 1:21. Everyone is a ninja at 1:49.
Essential Quote: "You can save a lot of lives, but you're gonna need to take a few along the way."—Estelle (Bennett)
