The hotel industry has another reason to fear Airbnb.

According to expense software company Certify, use of Airbnb for business travel is surging. Certify gathered data on where people were staying when traveling for business and found that Airbnb stays more than doubled from the first quarter of 2015 to the second. People tended to stay longer at Airbnbs than hotels—3.8 nights versus 2.1 nights in a hotel. These longer stays also meant travelers were spending more money per stay on Airbnb.

Why? Travelers say that Airbnbs are just a better experience, according to Certify: Travelers rated Airbnbs an average of 4.72 stars out of five versus 4.04 stars for hotels.
