Instead of shooting a traditional pilot, the new Muppets series' creators Bill Prady, Bob Kushell, and Randall Einhorn filmed a 10-minute mockumentary-style pitch for ABC executives to show the bigwigs what their new series was all about. The full video screened at Comic-Con International, and it got such an enthusiastic reception that the network decided to put the whole thing up on YouTube ahead of its Sept. 22 debut. The actual series is set behind the scenes of a post-Jimmy Kimmel Live! talk show hosted by Miss Piggy—but the pitch sees Kermit heading to the set of a Civil War drama co-starring Topher Grace to convince the diva pig to return to the fold so the whole gang can move ahead with production.
