If you've been wondering what Macy Gray has been up to lately, at least part of the answer is: Writing an ode to her favorite vibrator. Yup, you read that right! And it's actually quite charming. Besides our slamming top 10, we've got two honorable mentions to make. We didn't catch Natalia Kukulska's "Miau" in time to feature it here, but it’s strange enough to warrant a shout out, and since this is a Demi Lovato safe space, check out her aspirational jam “Cool For The Summer” if you want to see pop's survivor queen rock some excellent body confidence.
Macy Gray definitely won the roundup this week by bringing the dancing cartoon vibrators that, you have to admit, are super adorable.
Much like Björk's video for "stonemilker," which we brought you back in June, Foals has created a 360-degree experience for "Mountain at My Gates." It's a little more high-octane than Iceland's prized nymph dancing around by herself on a black sand beach, but pulls the same trick of featuring multiples of the same person rocking out around you in every direction. It’s pretty cool, actually, and the more artists stretch out this technology the better the effect will become.
It's a tale as old as time: Bag-head boy meets bag-head girl. Bag-head boy and bag-head girl fall in love.
OK so this is actually nuts. According to the video's description it was shot entirely underwater in one continuous take. We believe Highly Suspect since we don't really have any reason not to, but consider that this video is five whole minutes long and this girl, Marina Kazankova, is bound by ropes underwater the entire time. The effect is beautiful and desperate and anxiety-inducing. Hold your breath and watch!
Oh, hey, it's another Carlos Lopez Estrada joint! Estrada has been working on this "multimedia collaboration" for two years and it’s finally seeing the light of day. Check the latest, y'all!
1980s-inspired fashions. Choreographed dancing bathed in neon lights. Wet asphalt in a car wash/gas station parking lot. Sold. Foxes took a simple concept and made the most of it for "Body Talk" and we’re totally into it.
Roller skating parties for two weeks in a row?! Is this the hottest new trend in music video production? Probably not, but roller-disco-turned-roller-romance has our hearts.
Just a couple of construction workers on the job who can't resist the kicky sounds of Si Cranstoun. It really makes you want to up your workplace dance game.
This music video/short film combo comprises the fourth and fifth chapters of The Machine's visual saga for How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. And, once again, it lives and dies on the commitment of Florence Welch. Let no one say this woman does not give us her all. No one.
Dick Cheney and old Rick Rubin get down with a couple of hotties in a fancy ballroom. Weird points gets this one in the roundup!
