Newer isn't always better, especially when it comes to good design. There's a reason the Eames' fiberglass chair is considered a classic: It's as relevant today as it was when Charles and Ray Eames first fabricated it in 1950. For our Design|Life issue we picked out 12 objects that have stood (and will stand) the test of time. Of course, we've included uncontested classics like the fiberglass chair and Joe Colombo's optic alarm clock from 1970, but you'll also see some newer classics like Swatch's Sistem 51 watch and Nike's updated Air Max 1.
