Mat and Mike are back this week to talk about Apple's CarPlay, and to debate the myth of the "breakout" app from South by Southwest. The conference — which takes over Austin, Texas this weekend and runs all next week, and which WIRED is reporting from — has long been ground zero for new app launches and a place where underground technologies get introduced to the mainstream. Most famously, Twitter and Foursquare earned their cool-kid stripes at SXSW. But there hasn't really been a "big hit" in a few years, and Mat has a theory as to why. The hour-long discussion begins with a quick rundown of the Bitcoin/Satoshi drama, which had blown up on the web only a couple of hours before we sat down to tape the show. Obviously, a LOT has happened since then, so if we seem misinformed, it's only because we recorded this on Thursday morning before the latest turns of events. It's not because we're dumb, or whatever it is people say about us.
