The L.A. Auto Show has barely begun and we're already crowning a winner for the most insane thing on four wheels. It's called the Youabian Puma, and just for a sense of scale – and shear lunacy – look at those tires. They're 44 inches tall and 21 inches wide with brakes larger than your car's wheels, and it's all shoved into body that's 242 inches long – nearly 5 feet longer than the original Hummer H1.
Power? It's got it. 505 horsepower churned out of a 7.0-liter V8 and good for a claimed 0-60 MPH time of 5.9 seconds. Sure.
There's seating for four, 9 inches' worth of ground clearance, and all the creature comforts you'd expect, from cruise control to leather seats. And yes, the Puma has a roof. It's a retractable hard-top that uses 20 sensors and a brace of motors to open or close in a claimed 30 seconds.
The body is made of fiberglass, the chassis is aluminum and steel, and there are two fuel tanks mounted on either side for a combined 18 gallons of gas. Fuel economy? You don't want to know. And considering Youabian won't disclose its overall weight, we're assuming the Puma tips the scales at somewhere north of a Blue Whale.
According to Youabian, "the Puma was created with one goal in mind: to stand out and be unique." Mission accomplished. Now we're off to wash our eyes with bleach.
