The Stereosonic Festival is heralded as the largest dance music festival in Australia and today – for the second year in a row – folks can watch it anywhere as part of a campaign to raise awareness for World AIDS Day.
Starting tonight/this morning – Saturday afternoon in Sydney where the current leg of Stereosonic is being held – the (RED) organization is hooking up with the festival to offer a 24-hour livestream, which includes performances by everyone from ubiquitous French producer David Guetta to DJ Calvin Harris. The concert's livestream is meant to raise awareness for World AIDS Day on Dec. 1 and fuel sales of the Dance (RED) Save Lives2 music compilation, proceeds from which are going to The Global Fund. To date, (RED) and its partners have raised some $215 million for the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa.
The album – available here (iTunes link) – features remixes of tracks from the likes of Katy Perry, Madonna, Icona Pop, and Coldplay. Check out the livestream of the Stereosonic Festival from Sydney above. Watch a trailer for the event below.
