Traveling to S.F. or L.A.? Now you can show off your impeccable taste in performance and green cred by renting a Tesla Model S from Hertz.
The car rental company has added Tesla's all-electric wünder-sedan to its "Dream Cars" fleet in California, and it didn't just skimp on the 60 kWh model, but are offering the fully charged 85 kWh version with a 265 mile range and a 0-60 time of four seconds.
The Model S joins an impressive list of other Dream Cars from Hertz, including the Aston Martin Vantage, Audi R8, Bentley Continental GT, Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo, SRT Viper, and Porsche's 911, Boxster, and Panamera. All of those rides and more are available in 35 special rental fleets from Miami to Las Vegas, but the Model S is a California-only affair for now, and commands $400 per day -- better than a last generation Ferrari for $1,200. Regardless, get the expanded insurance and liability coverage.
