Wednesday, August 21, San Francisco, CA – WIRED today announced that it will host the 2013 WIRED Data|Life conference, presented with the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, November 5–6 at the Andaz Wall Street in New York City. This second annual WIRED health conference will again feature thought leaders, cutting-edge scientists, influential technologists, and designers for enlightening conversations on the future of health and health care.
“WIRED Data|Life is a conference based on three increasingly connected aspects of health and medicine: data, technology, and design,” says WIRED editor in chief Scott Dadich. “There has been an unprecedented amount of innovation in the industry over the past few years—progress that enables us to understand health care in new ways. The challenge—and what we will be discussing onstage—is how to optimize the information available, designing personal experiences that make the best use of emergent technologies.”
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, Living by Numbers, WIRED Data|Life will explore the next great frontier for medicine—seamlessly weaving the threads of data, technology, and design into our lives to optimize personal health, encourage healthy choices, and create healthier societies. The event is designed to stimulate and motivate health-minded startups, innovators, business leaders, and individuals to shape the power of big-data tools, social networks, and information technologies into user-friendly systems for improving health. WIRED Data|Life provides a unique forum for groundbreaking discussions with trailblazers who are forging the path to a new age of medicine. Last year’s speakers included Olympic gold medalist Ashton Eaton, designer Michael Graves, geneticist Craig Venter, technologist Andy Grove, and author Tim Ferriss.
