Five tedious months after the release of the absurd (and absurdly good) Super Stickman Golf 2, developers Noodlecake Games have updated the iOS and Android game with two new tours (roughly 40% more levels than before), more unlockable characters, more hats and lots of tweaks to its online multiplayer modes.

Even ignoring iPhone game standards, Stickman Golf 2 was already a meaty, lengthy game. In my quest to get a gold star on every course and unlock every achievement in the game's 1.0 release, I put in just over 41 hours of game time. I swung my tiny 2-D golf club 9,483 times, and I fell into a water hazard 468 times, according to the game's statistics menu.

After just a few minutes with the game's new courses, I'm reminded of what made the game so excellent in the first place: the cautious anticipation as you line up a risky shot, the sense of elation when an ball improbably lands in the perfect spot, the intense feeling of horror when a near miss turns into a major setback.

This is not a game you just "play." Stickman Golf will get you emotionally invested, repeatedly crushing your spirit but keeping you playing until you're good enough for any challenge it can throw at you.

This update is more of a very good thing. If you haven't picked it up before now, stop what you're doing and get it for $2.99 on the iOS App Store or for free on Google Play.

Noodlecake Games says that even more levels will be coming... eventually.
