Facebook's Graph Search -- announced earlier this year, and now finally available to all U.S. users -- enables your friends, friends of friends, and potential future employers to find out a lot about you.
And while you may have already tightened the controls on what photos and wall posts friends and strangers can view, you may be leaving one aspect of your digital existence open to exploration: What apps you use.
When you use your Facebook login to sign into a third party mobile app, that app gets to connect with your profile. Using Graph Search, someone can see which apps you've authorized. Sure, this isn't a big deal for things like Yelp or SocialCam or Twitter, but do you really want everyone being able to see that you use Tinder for the occasional casual encounter?
Keep that shiz to yourself: Click the Privacy settings button in the upper right corner of your Facebook page, then click on "See more settings." From there, choose "Apps" from the menu on the left side of the screen, and you can see all of the apps you've given Facebook access to. Using the edit button on the right of each of these, you can control their individual settings (like whether it's OK to post to your wall without permission or not), and you can also adjust who can see any information about you and this app. Next to "Visibility of app and posts," choose "Only me" from the drop-down menu.
Voilà. Now nobody but you knows about your guilty pleasures.
