Not a hoax! Not an imaginary story! Not a holiday special! After three years of waiting, the fifth season of Venture Brothers will premiere in theaters at select cities around the country on May 28 and 29, nearly a week before the season’s network premiere on June 2. And to help catch you up after the long hiatus, Adult Swim has created an eight-minute recap of the entire series, courtesy of the unstoppable Henchmen 21.
Adult Swim has announced that fans of the cartoon will be able to catch special screenings of the season four finale followed by the season five premiere at Alamo Drafthouses in Austin, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, and San Antonio; and at Nitehawk Cinemas in Brooklyn, NY.
The story of aging inventor and former boy-adventurer Rusty Venture and his teenage sons aired for four smash-hit seasons between 2003 and 2010, but the last three years have seen only two one-off episodes: a Behind the Music-style mocumentary in August 2011, and a Halloween special in late 2012.
