Introducing Photos of You from Instagram on Vimeo.

You'll no longer need to take selfies to appear on your own Instagram profile. The Facebook-owned photosharing app now adds all of the photos you're tagged in to your profile and lets you tag your friends in all of your filter-happy shots.

Instagram launched the feature, dubbed "Photos of You," in its iOS and Android apps today. Much like the photo tagging function on Facebook, Instagram users can tag photos with any other Instagram account. And all of the photos you're tagged in will show up in a new tab on your Instagram profile.

When you upload a photo to Instagram, you'll be asked whether you want to tag the photo. You can tap a person's face and add their Instagram username, or even tag a photo with a restaurant or venue's Instagram handle. When you've been tagged in a photo, Instagram will send you a notification and the photo will automatically appear in the new Photos of You tab.

Of course, as with Facebook photos, there's a high chance that your friends will take embarrassing photos that you don't want to be tagged in. Instagram will let you remove tags and turn on a setting so that photos need your approval before appearing in your Photos of You section. And not everyone can go crazy with tagging -- only the user of a photo can tag their own images.

The goal for Instagram: Make it easier to share and discover photos. For example, if you visit Starbucks' Instagram page, you'll not only be greeted with the company's photos, but other user-uploaded images tagged with Starbucks. Photos can (and will) appear in more than one profile, extending the reach of a single image.

You'll get to privately test out the Photos of You feature until May 16, when Instagram will make Photos of You visible to others.
