Groove Heaven: More Musical Puzzle Platforming For 3DS

Groove Heaven is a decent entry in a generally neglected genre, musical platforming for $4.
Groove Heaven More Musical Puzzle Platforming For 3DS

Finished with HarmoKnight and want more musical platforming on your 3DS? I can't promise you anything quite as good as Game Freak's stellar downloadable rhythmic action game, but for another four bucks you can get Groove Heaven.

The basic gameplay is similar to Beat Sneak Bandit, an iOS "rhythm stealth puzzle" game from last year. Your character can only move one square at a time, and only when you tap the screen to the rhythm of the background music. Tap off the beat and they won't move at all, leaving them vulnerable to attacks (or just frustrating you).

The difference in Groove Heaven is that it's not a puzzle game. You don't have to think very hard to see the path to take, it's just a matter of moving through the levels without running into enemies. Later, the game introduces doors that close after a certain number of beats, which compel you to take a few more risks than you ordinarily might.

Tapping with a stylus is more fun than tapping with one's thumb, I think. Nintendo doesn't do much to promote its downloadable 3DS library, so I'm just trying to call attention to a decent entry in an unloved genre.
