If there is one high-profile Silicon Valley company rethinking everything about its business and place in the world it’s Yahoo under the leadership of CEO Marissa Mayer.
Even while the drag from the Great Recession seems to be receding, big companies like Yahoo and individuals alike are facing a reordered business landscape. The pace at which technology tears down the old to make way for the new is quickening, and the rewards for making creative leaps are greater than ever (as is the distance you fall behind for failing to keep up).
It’s fitting then that Mayer will be among those taking the stage May 7 at the WIRED Business Conference in New York City, a day of ideas and conversations orbiting the theme “think bigger.”
“If you want to succeed in this time of constant change, you need to be continually rethinking and reinventing your business, not just improving by 5 or 10 percent,” says WIRED Editor-in-Chief Scott Dadich. “This year's speaker lineup underscores that theme of ‘think bigger’ by celebrating leaders with the vision and courage to deliver the products, innovations, and ideas that inspire the rest of us and move us forward."
In addition to Mayer, the lineup at the Museum of Jewish Heritage includes Twitter co-founder Evan Williams, upstart fashion brand Warby Parker’s Neil Blumenthal, and Buzzfeed’s Jonah Peretti. Additional speakers joining WIRED editors on the main stage include The New York Times’ Jill Abramson, Microsoft Windows VP Julie Larson-Green, and Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs. They’ll tackle, among other things, the future of media, where computing is headed next, and when mobile will completely dominate our lives.
For the fourth year running, WIRED is presenting the Business Conference in partnership with MDC Partners. More information can be found here.
