Tony Stark Summons a Squad of Iron Men in New Iron Man 3 Trailer

Tony Stark takes on his own demons and (presumably) the Mandarin in the latest trailer for Iron Man 3 — this time with the help of some Iron Men friends.

“I’m Tony Stark; I build neat stuff; I got a great girl; and — occasionally — save the world,” Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) says in the latest trailer, which was posted on Marvel UK’s YouTube page. “So why can’t I sleep?”

Whereas Iron Man 3′s Super Bowl spot focused on our playboy hero saving the passengers of Air Force One, the latest zeroes in on massive battles, presumably against the Mandarin (and oddly accented Ben Kingsley), who the president says “must be stopped.” What ensues is an epic collection of quick-cuts — roughly a minute of new shots! — that includes the villain and some badass bravado from Stark: “I’m not afraid of you. No politics here, just good, old-fashioned revenge.”

Sigh. Stupid trailers. They show so much yet reveal so little, especially when the trailer starts out looking like a remix of already revealed footage and then cuts to massive explosions and a face-off at a port.

What’s not in question, though, is the squad of Iron Men troops Stark calls in to fight. Those dudes just look freaking awesome no matter what they’re doing. Stark, your “boys” done good.

Iron Man 3, helmed by director Shane Black in his first stab at an Iron Man flick, hits theaters May 3.
