Wow! Wow! We knew that our fuzzy little friends from Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! had a slew of different games and apps. However, the idea of combining Wuzzleberg's cuddliest residents with dinosaurs seems like the recipe for app gold, no?
That's what Cupcake Digital is hoping for with its latest release, Wubbzy's Dinosaur Adventure.
Perfect for your budding reader, this app invites your wee ones to practice those skills through an interactive book. Wubbzy's Dinosaur Adventure actually flows like a board book. It's perky, it's colorful, and the content is limited to a few sentences per page. From the home page, readers can choose several options.
In the "Read to Me" mode, users can listen to the story, while following words at the bottom of the screen. Want to know what a certain word is again? Touch the word for a repeat pronunciation. However, that's not the only thing to touch here. On every page, there are several tappable items that will trigger animation on the characters, the modes of transportation, the shrubbery, and more. There's even a section where users can feed Wubbzy a few cupcakes!
Readers can also break up the action in the story with games that involve numbers, letters, words, and even matching capabilities.
"Read & Play" allows advanced readers to read on their own, with the interactivity and game features. "Just a Book" is just what it sounds like, cutting out both the audio and the interactive portions. The menu also has options to cut to the chase and access specific pages and games, as well as adjust sounds. There are also a few coloring pages and three Wubbzy-esque music videos, which are a nice little bonus.
One of the sections that parents will appreciate is "Grown-Up's Corner." This portion allows parents to further the conversation, with questions about the story. I was pretty impressed to find out how much my 6-year-old was paying attention!
Wubbzy's Dinosaur Adventure is a cute little adventure that should keep the kids busy for a while – and even looking for a repeat performance. Right now, it's also perfectly priced at $1.99. That's supposed to go up another buck in the future, so you may want to snag it while it's still being offered at the introductory price.
